How do I get from Fiumicino or Ciampino to central Rome?

Train, bus or fixed-fare taxi — choose by where you sleep, when you land and how many of you travel.

Short answer

From Fiumicino (FCO) take the Leonardo Express to Termini (32 min, €14) or the cheaper FL1 (€8) if you sleep near Trastevere, Ostiense or Tiburtina. Ciampino (CIA) has no train: use a direct coach to Termini or ATAC bus 520/720 to the metro. An official taxi costs a fixed €55 from FCO and €40 from CIA to any address inside the Aurelian Walls.

Good to know

Four people? Compare door to door

For a group of four, the train group fare and the €55 taxi can be close. Luggage and your hotel’s location usually decide.

From Ciampino: bus or taxi

Transport option

Coach or local bus

Daily direct coaches go to Termini (tickets online, at arrivals desks or on board). ATAC 520 and 720 connect to Anagnina metro and Ciampino station.

Watch out

After the last train

Check the Cotral night Air Terminal bus to Termini or Tiburtina — and how you get from that station to your bed. If there is no workable chain, go to the official taxi rank. A bus ticket does not make the bus wait for a delayed flight.

Watch out

Use the official taxi rank only

Don’t accept rides from people approaching you in arrivals. Use the rank, the ChiamaTaxi app or a licensed pre-booked transfer.
