Malpensa is 40–60 minutes from Milan’s stations — plus passport control. Here’s how much buffer to leave.

Short answer

From Terminal 1 the Malpensa Express takes about 37 min to Cadorna and 51 min to Milano Centrale, where the fast trains leave (Rome 2 h 52 at best, Florence 1 h 43, Venice about 2 h 15). Add baggage claim and passport control — now with EES registration for non-EU travellers. Travellers’ consensus: spend the first night in Milan, or book the onward train at least 3–4 hours after landing on a changeable fare — a cheap fixed fare you miss is lost. From T2 the last Malpensa Express to Milan is around 22:37.
