Venice: plan the trip around the final stretch

Canals, art and neighbourhood walks are the heart of Venice. Start with the number of full days and your accommodation address: bridges, boat stops and the last stretch with luggage shape the trip more than map distance.

The historic city is best for early-morning and evening walks. Judge Mestre by the full price of the room plus the daily commute. What matters is the route from your station or boat stop to the door — not just the district name.

If an exhibition is the goal, give it dedicated time and compare Castello with convenient water routes. Before booking, check whether your dates clash with Carnival, the Film Festival, Redentore or the Regata Storica — each year's calendar and access rules are checked separately. Book when dates, price and cancellation suit you; there is no universal “six months ahead” rule.
Plan around a bought ticket: fix the entry time first, then pick nearby walks and food before and after. Leave margin for transit and security, and do not put an island trip right before a strict slot. Three days is a convenient editorial benchmark, not a minimum.

Good to know· Know your terminus

Santa Lucia, Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto are not the same

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Santa Lucia is the railway station, with the Ferrovia boat stops next to it. Piazzale Roma is the bus and car terminal, linked to the station by the stepped Ponte della Costituzione. Not every airport bus goes there: the Venetian terminus of Barzi/Terravision is Tronchetto. Check the terminus on your ticket. From Ferrovia, pick line, direction and pontoon by hotel address: line 1 runs along the Grand Canal, line 2 has a different set of stops. With luggage, the number of bridges and steps matters more than map distance; a water taxi lands at an agreed accessible landing, not necessarily at your door.

Marco Polo by land: bus to the city

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
ACTV Aerobus 5 runs to Piazzale Roma; for Mestre FS there is ACTV 15 and a separate ATVO Mestre Express. ACTV publishes an airport ticket at €10 one way; ATVO lists €12 for Marco Polo → Venezia/Piazzale Roma. These are different carriers and tickets; check the Mestre fare for the product you choose. Piazzale Roma is the end of the bus part: then walk or take a vaporetto to the stop nearest your accommodation. An ordinary city ticket/pass without the airport supplement does not cover the VCE ride. There is no direct train from the Marco Polo terminal.

Marco Polo by water: Alilaguna

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Alilaguna is a separate scheduled operator: airport ↔ Venice €18 one way, €32 return; a separate fare of €10 one way is published to Murano. The orange line serves Rialto; the blue line serves San Marco among others. Check stop, direction, timetable and temporary changes before paying. The airport dock is a walk from the terminal following Water Transport signs — boarding is not right outside arrivals. An ordinary ACTV pass does not replace an Alilaguna ticket.

It applies to the agreed conditions — shortest route, no requested stops or detours; under the operator's rules fixed fares usually do not apply to phone-called rides. Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
There is no single journey time for every address. For each option, count time to the right stop plus the walk inside the airport, waiting and the route to your door. Likewise “20 minutes by bus” or “30 by water taxi” does not promise a full transfer to the hotel. Choose a private water taxi by the final quote for your group and luggage: 4–6 people is not a universal capacity limit — the operator confirms the boat and luggage space. Direct buses from Treviso

The direct ATVO Treviso Airport Bus Express (line 351) links the airport with Mestre FS and Venezia/Piazzale Roma. In the 10 Aug – 24 Oct 2026 timetable, allow about 30 min to Mestre and 40 min to Piazzale Roma from the airport — riding time only, without waiting, baggage claim or the route to your accommodation. The timetable follows flights and can change. Buy the ticket from TSF and check the current fare with the operator. Barzi's published timetable (1 May – 24 Oct 2026) ends in Venice at Tronchetto, not Piazzale Roma — add the onward transfer. If you stay in Mestre, a suitable mainland stop is usually easier. Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Agree late check-in, an access code and a contact for delays in advance. Check the last/first airport bus for your date and the whole route from the hotel to its stop. The ACTV night line N serves Ferrovia, Piazzale Roma and the Grand Canal, but stops and intervals depend on the run and direction — the published timetable has hour-long gaps at some stops. For an early flight, count backwards from the airline's recommended airport arrival, with margin for changes and luggage. Good to know· Arrival point

Near the station or the boat stop

Verified 2026-09-17EN from RU source
Staying near Santa Lucia is mainly useful for arriving and leaving by train. Arriving by bus, compare addresses near Piazzale Roma: a different arrival point, and being near the station does not remove the canal crossing. Check the route from the actual exit/pontoon to the entrance. “Cannaregio”, “Santa Croce” or “same side of the Grand Canal” does not guarantee no small bridges. Judge the walk to San Marco by address and your own pace — with luggage don't rely on “30–40 minutes”.
A place further from the vaporetto can suit a mostly walking trip. With heavy luggage or frequent boat trips, what matters is also the lines served, changes and steps. “1–3 min from the stop” does not mean a level quay to reception.

How to check the stay tax

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
The imposta di soggiorno is a separate accommodation tax, not the Access Fee. The municipality confirms it is charged per person per night, for a maximum of five consecutive nights, with reductions and exemptions. The rate depends not only on stars: the type and location of the property, the season and the guest's conditions all matter — check the rate for your property's category and address.
Before paying, look for the city tax / imposta di soggiorno line in the booking breakdown: is it already charged or payable on site? Ask the property for the amount for all guests and nights, reductions and payment method; keep the receipt. “The tax is never included and always paid at check-in” is not a correct general rule. The manager must tell you the amount and procedure and give you a receipt.

Partially verified · 2026-09-19EN from RU source
Geography fit only, not a confirmation of hotel services. Example: for the Museo di Storia Naturale Giancarlo Ligabue, look at Santa Croce access near the museum and inspect the actual bridge count and room access. Compare the full price for all children's ages, real beds, connecting rooms, steps before the lift, pushchair storage, kitchen/breakfast, early dinner, laundry and the evening return. A cot “on request” is not guaranteed; a kids' club is checked by age, language, season, hours and surcharge. An unknown does not satisfy a must-have.

Pushchair and accessibility

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
With a pushchair, check lift/door width, whether the pushchair fits in the room or an agreed spot, a cot and the room for the whole family. Translate “first floor” precisely: piano terra = ground level, primo piano = one floor up; even piano terra may have steps at the entrance. Ask for photos and a route description.
For reduced mobility, confirm entrance, lift, room and bathroom, and boarding on the chosen transport. A pushchair and a wheelchair need different checks. A standard private water taxi is not automatically accessible: agree the boat type, assistance and boarding in advance. A 3–5 minute walk does not replace checking the steps.

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Confirmed by ACTV: €9.50 / 75 min, €25 / 24 h, €35 / 48 h, €45 / 72 h, €65 / 168 h. Three separately paid €9.50 tickets cost €28.50 vs €25 for 24 hours: count the tickets you need, not boardings or changes. Main tourist tickets exclude Alilaguna and the airport without a separate product/supplement. Validate at the start and at each change; the bus/tram app has separate activation. Don't confuse a cheap road ticket with the right to board a vaporetto. The gondola is an experience and the water taxi a transfer — neither is in the ordinary ACTV pass. Check child reductions by product; don't transfer another city's rule.

When a pass is worth it

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
At €9.50 per ticket, compare the number of truly needed singles with €25/24 h, €35/48 h, €45/72 h or €65/168 h. Several changes can fit in one ticket's validity, but you still validate at each boarding. A Murano/Burano trip often makes a pass convenient but does not guarantee savings. Two or three calendar days don't always fit into 48 hours of validity. The central quarters can be walked, but there is no universal “cross all Venice in 40–50 minutes”.

With 1, 2, 3 or 7-day tickets — including the 72-hour Rolling Venice — you can add an Aerobus supplement at purchase: €7 one way or €13 return for ACTV's Marco Polo airport buses. It does not extend to ATVO, Alilaguna or the Treviso transfer. An ordinary transport ticket does not include museums; for Venezia Unica bundles check transport and museum products, validity and mandatory bookings separately.

ACTV confirms automatic Best Fare capping: €25/24 h, €35/48 h, €45/72 h, €65/168 h by trips and time. Always use the same physical card or one device — don't alternate card, phone and watch. Tap at every boarding; no tap-out on water transport. Wait for the green confirmation and show the same medium at inspection. Keep validating even after reaching the cap. The EMV Daily Pass does not include Trenitalia R/RV city trains; airport rides and suburban routes outside coverage are paid separately. Tickets bought in the app or another channel don't count toward EMV Best Fare. Don't expect the Rolling Venice discount to apply automatically.

Buy and activate the ticket; use the dynamic QR code in the app at the pier gate. Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Big stops have several lettered pontoons; which one can depend on the time of day. Match stop name, pontoon letter, line number, direction and the intermediate stops of your run with signs, timetables and ACTV notices. Your stop need not be the terminus shown on the display — e.g. line 1 towards Lido passes San Marco. Don't rely on an electronic display at every stop. If unsure, show staff the stop name and ask: “Questo vaporetto ferma a Rialto?” — “Does this vaporetto stop at Rialto?”

Grand Canal: line 1 vs line 2

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Line 1 stops often — good for a slow look from the water, not an express. Line 2 skips some stops but has different sections and short runs. From the 14 Sep 2026 timetable some runs from Ferrovia end at Rialto; the continuation to San Marco Giardinetti does not run all day. In the opposite direction via Tronchetto and Giudecca you can also reach San Zaccaria, but it's a different route. For a Grand Canal ride, check the run passes Rialto and ends at the San Marco pontoon you want — not just the number 2.

In the paper timetable find the last suitable departure — there isn't always an “Ultima corsa” column. Combine bookings by interest

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Buy the official Palazzo Ducale ticket in advance, checking date and time slot — it saves the ticket office, not necessarily the entrance queue. For the Basilica, pick an available slot and the right combination in advance. Waiting “exactly one hour” or “1–2 hours” is not a fixed condition. Leave time between two bookings for exit, transfer and security.
There is no mandatory pair. Choose the Palace for the Republic's history, state rooms, painting and the Bridge of Sighs; the Basilica for mosaics and architecture. For the balcony over the square choose the product with Museo e Loggia dei Cavalli. The Campanile is a lift ride for the panorama; Scala Contarini del Bovolo is a stair alternative, not equivalent to a lift. Don't offer San Giorgio Maggiore as a cheap queue-free climb until its bell tower reopens.

How to check Murano glass

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Look for the Vetro Artistico® Murano mark on the item itself and check the code, not just a logo in the window. Per Consorzio Promovetro, the mark confirms production on Murano and is used by authorised makers. The sticker carries a maker code and, since 2016, a serial number and Data Matrix; verify at original.muranoglass.com. Ask the maker's name and origin. A missing sticker alone is not proof of a fake — and a high price, bubbles or small irregularities alone don't prove origin.

Start with the child's age, height and interest. Museo di Storia Naturale Giancarlo Ligabue fits young children, children and teens by interest; official MUVE family programmes are for 5–14 / 5–10. Official restrictions matter more than generic 0–2, 2–4, 4–7, 7–12, 13–17 groups. For a toddler plan one fixed block with margin for food, toilet and sleep; for a teen, pick by interest. On a rainy day use only an indoor option with confirmed entry. If pushchair, lift, changing table or language support is critical, check unknown fields before buying.

What to try

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Start with baccalà mantecato or sarde in saor, then a pasta or risotto from the menu — bigoli in salsa or seppie in nero if offered. Moeche are seasonal — check availability and price. Burano is linked to bussolà and essi, Carnival to fritole. The lagoon tradition does not mean all fish in every restaurant is local catch.

Good to know· Bill

How to read the bill

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Coperto — a cover/place charge; servizio — a separate service charge if the menu states it; mancia — a voluntary tip. Before ordering, check the fixed amount per person and any percentage; there is no mandatory 10–20% tipping norm. For a budget bite compare pastries, pizza al taglio and supermarket food by menu, portion and pricing (per piece or by weight). Eat takeaway in permitted rest areas, not on steps or canal edges.

Coperto is not a fixed city fee

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source

Before ordering ask the price at the counter (al banco) and at a table (al tavolo), coperto/servizio and any per-person music surcharge. Caffè Florian publishes separate counter and table menus. Work out the total from the venue's menu: there's no city fee or universal €6 cap in the checked sources. Caffè Correr is an option with a view of the square — compare current menus.

Cicchetti and an ombra are a short bacaro stop; a full restaurant dinner takes more time and a different budget. Schiavi in Dorsoduro is known for cicchetti and wine; Bancogiro near Rialto has a seasonal menu. Cannaregio and Dorsoduro suit evenings, Rialto a market walk, Via Garibaldi the eastern city. Check menu, drinks, coperto, allergens and kitchen hours before ordering.

Kitchen hours

Checked 2026-09-23 · with notes
Many kitchens split lunch and dinner, commonly around 12:00–14:30 and 19:00–22:00. Bacari often serve cicchetti earlier, while late food is concentrated in pizza counters and bars such as Bacaro Jazz.

One, two, three or four days

Route· Overview

Choosing the length

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
One day: San Marco / Rialto and one booking by availability; time is limited by arrival and return transport. Two full days — a sensible editorial recommendation for a first visit: historic centre plus another district/art, or islands with a shorter city programme. Three full days combine the centre, interiors and a separate Murano/Burano day at a calmer pace. One night gives two full days only with an early arrival and a late departure. Four: Dorsoduro, Castello or Lido by weather and interest; a long day trip is optional. In rain pick an open museum; in heat or fatigue rest at the hotel.

Route· 1 day

Express route for one full day

Venezia Santa Lucia → Rialto → Piazza San Marco on foot with a food pause, then back with a suitable Grand Canal section on the vaporetto. For a continuous canal view pick line 1 in the right direction; with line 2 check the section — it's not a full replacement. One pre-booked interior (Basilica or Palace) is possible with enough time but shortens other stops. The traghetto is an optional short crossing if running and on your route. Skip the islands on such a day.
An overnight in the historic city makes evening and morning walks possible without a mainland ride; staying in Mestre keeps the return trip. Empty streets and a fixed 10:00–17:00 crowd peak are not guaranteed. Sunset is a timing option for the Grand Canal, not a promise of free seats on the boat.

Route· Core

Day 1 · San Marco, Rialto and the Grand Canal

Morning: one booked landmark — Basilica, Palazzo Ducale or a museum as your timed anchor; don't stack several timed entries.
Midday: walk towards Rialto with a meal stop; check the market's current days.
Afternoon: one flexible nearby choice — a church, museum or quiet street.
Evening: dinner near where the day ends; check the walk or last useful vaporetto back.
Route· Pick a side

Day 2 · Art and neighbourhoods

Option A · Dorsoduro: an art collection or church as the anchor, then a slow walk to the Zattere.
Option B · Cannaregio: the Jewish Ghetto and canals, with a bàcaro or bakery stop.
Classics: swap in Peggy Guggenheim or La Fenice.
Meal: cicchetti, baccalà mantecato or sarde in saor.
Route· Lagoon

Day 3 · One lagoon plan is enough

Shorter: Murano for glassmaking — check the demonstration format and whether a purchase is expected.
Longer: Burano, optionally Torcello — compare the actual boat sequence, waiting and return.
Slower / seasonal: Lido for a different pace or the beach.
Before leaving, verify ACTV routes, service changes and the last useful return.

Libreria Acqua Alta (western Castello) → Arsenale entrance from outside → Via Garibaldi → public gardens and eastern quays — moving east without doubling back. Public gardens are not the Biennale's Giardini; Giardini/Arsenale exhibitions need a separate ticket in season — if you choose the Biennale, give it much of the day. Don't expect free access to the whole Arsenale.

Short on time? What to cut

Route· Trim

What to cut first

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
First drop distant islands and extra transfers, then choose one interior instead of several. If art is the goal, keep the Gallerie dell'Accademia — a façade doesn't replace the collection. Allow roughly 2–3 hours for the Palace or a big gallery as an interest-based guide; queues and security are extra. A private gondola can be skipped; the traghetto is a short crossing, not a cheap full replacement for a tour.

Route· Pace

Keep an evening

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Take a pause in the day if you want to walk in the evening. Leave free time between bookings; talk quietly in residential lanes at night. An early or late San Marco is editorial advice, not a promise of an empty square.

For two adults ACTV 48 h costs €70; two standard Palace tickets another €70 — independent products, without the Basilica. The MUVE discount threshold isn't replaced by any online order. In Mestre add the daily commute and evening return; the centre may save time, but without dates we don't guarantee savings. Compare transport and museum cards separately against your plan.

Access Fee vs stay tax

Good to know· Access Fee

Two different charges

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
The Access Fee (CDA) and the stay tax are different. On CDA days, an overnight in registered accommodation anywhere in the municipality of Venice, including Mestre, grounds an exemption — ask the property how to prove it. This is not “the entry fee is included in the hotel tax”. As of 18 Sep 2026, with the CDA season over, neither payment nor exemption registration is needed; check new decisions before a future trip.

City rules and fines

Watch out· Rules

Resting, rubbish and street games

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
The city bans eating and drinking sitting on the ground, and sitting or lying on canal edges, bridges, steps and monuments. Use equipped, permitted spots in parks; don't block passages.
Rubbish: street bins are for small litter. Bags of household rubbish from apartments must not be left in, beside those bins or at the street door. Ask your host for the current Veritas instructions for your address — sorting, when and where to hand over bags, and what to do on an early departure. The scheme varies by area.
Street gambling: don't play shell games or similar bets — general anti-scam advice, not a claim about any specific bridge.

Acqua alta (high water)

Good to know· Plan

Plan the day around the tide

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Use the Centro Maree forecast: peak time, level and access on your specific route. No one can promise the water will drop in 2–3 hours or that afternoons are always dry. Passerelle (raised walkways) are placed on set routes and conditions — they don't cover every street or every level. Check current notices and don't bypass closures. Choose suitable waterproof footwear; disposable overshoes and a €10–15 price are no guarantee of availability or protection. An indoor museum plan works only if the venue is open and reachable.

Good to know· Transport

Tide and transport

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
ACTV changes routes and piers with the tide; at extreme levels wider restrictions are possible and the captain decides whether a run can safely continue. Check operator notices and the municipal forecast. Walking around is only possible where a safe open route exists; some islands cannot be reached on foot.

Good to know· Forecast

Forecast and footwear

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
San Marco is one of the lower-lying areas, but “always floods first” ignores defences and conditions. For forecasts try hi!tide Venezia — check its update time and compare with Centro Maree. The city's tide siren doesn't replace the forecast for your route. For normal walks wear comfortable non-slip shoes; ordinary trainers aren't necessarily waterproof and don't replace boots in a flood.

Luggage: route check, storage and the hotel email

Good to know· Checklist

Route check with big suitcases (before booking)

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
1. Fix the actual arrival point: the Santa Lucia exit, the Piazzale Roma bus stop or a specific vaporetto pontoon (Ferrovia and Rialto have several).
2. Map the route to the exact entrance, not the building pin; count bridges and steps. Photos, satellite and Street View help but may be old; a canal crossing on the map doesn't prove a walkable bridge.
3. Check against the municipal Venezia accessibile materials and AVM pier diagrams; the general accessibility map is dated 2017.
4. Ask the hotel for a route plan and a written description of bridges/steps, including at the entrance and before the lift; which floors the lift serves.
5. For a water taxi to a private dock, agree landing, exact pier, steps from water to reception, luggage help and total cost — a private dock doesn't guarantee step-free access.

“We will arrive at [station / vaporetto stop and pontoon] with [number] large suitcases. Could you send us the easiest walking route to your exact entrance and confirm how many bridges and steps it includes? Are there any steps before the lift, and does the lift serve our room floor? If we arrive by water taxi, can it use your dock, and is there step-free access from the boat to reception? Is luggage assistance available, and what does it cost?”
If the answer is just “close” or “accessible”, ask for specifics and photos. For step-free travel ask separately — help carrying a suitcase is not wheelchair accessibility.

Luggage storage

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Confirmed: KiPoint at Venezia Santa Lucia; at Piazzale Roma the Cooperativa Trasbagagli deposit inside the Garage Comunale. Choose by your onward departure point so you don't cross the city for your bags. Before paying check drop-off/pick-up hours, entrance address, size limits, total price and rules on valuables. “Near the station” doesn't mean inside it; don't count on 24-hour pick-up without confirmation. Ask your hotel about storage first.

Bring a reusable bottle and refill it at working fontanelle. The official tourism site confirms drinking fountains in Parco Savorgnan (Cannaregio). Fontanelle.org maps others — a marker doesn't guarantee it works that day. Follow signs; don't fill up where marked acqua non potabile.

Good to know· Rest

Where to rest

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
There are public benches — e.g. Parco Savorgnan, with fountains and a playground. Plan such stops in advance. For a snack use permitted areas in parks and follow local signs; steps, bridges and canal edges are not picnic spots.

Good to know· Checklist

Save to your Trip Notebook

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
• exact entrance, contact, check-in time and night instructions;
• the right pier for your route and a checked path with minimal steps;
• full arrival and departure including luggage and an early airport transfer;
• tickets with date, time, terms and when to be at the entrance;
• a few food options and one indoor backup nearby;
• nearest useful toilets, a pharmacy and luggage storage with checked hours;
• your tide-forecast source, ACTV notices and the event calendar for your dates.
Keep mandatory bookings apart from optional saved places. The ACTV app QR is dynamic — a screenshot isn't a ticket. Don't keep ID copies in a public note. For a very early flight, compare a last night near a road terminal or the airport with a night transfer.

Connectivity and offline prep

Verified 2026-09-18EN from RU source
Save the city map, address and check-in instructions offline. Compare your roaming with a local SIM/eSIM (eSIM needs a compatible device and is optional). Navigation doesn't replace checking bridges and an accessible route with luggage.

Practical

Quick answers

Short answers built from the Venice Guide blocks and the previous 3-day page FAQ. Full context is in the linked cards above.

Arriving

Is there a train from Marco Polo airport?

No direct train from the VCE terminal. Take ACTV Aerobus 5 or ATVO to Piazzale Roma, Alilaguna by water, or a taxi/water taxi.

How much is the bus from VCE to Venice?

ACTV publishes an airport ticket at €10 one way; ATVO lists €12 to Piazzale Roma. Different carriers and tickets.

How much is Alilaguna?

€18 one way, €32 return to Venice; €10 one way to Murano. An ACTV pass does not cover it.

Where does the Treviso bus stop now?

From 1 July 2026 the ATVO 351 stop is on Via delle Canevare — follow the airport signs.

Santa Lucia or Mestre?

Santa Lucia is in the historic city; Mestre is on the mainland, with trains to Santa Lucia and buses/tram to Piazzale Roma.

Transport

How much is a vaporetto ticket?

€9.50 for 75 minutes; passes €25/24 h, €35/48 h, €45/72 h, €65/168 h.

Can I pay with my bank card?

Yes — tap the same card or device every time; ACTV caps with Best Fare at the pass prices. App tickets don't count toward the cap.

Is there a youth discount?

Ages 6–29: Rolling Venice €6 + 72 h ACTV €27 = €33.

How much is a gondola?

Official: €90 for 30 min (09:00–19:00), €110 for 35 min (19:00–04:00), up to five people. A traghetto crossing is €2.

Do vaporetti run at night?

Line N covers the Grand Canal, Giudecca and Lido with gaps of up to an hour; not all islands.

Money & rules

Do I need to pay the Access Fee?

Not as of 18 Sep 2026 (season over). On CDA days a registered overnight in the municipality, incl. Mestre, exempts you. It is separate from the stay tax.

Is coperto compulsory everywhere?

No. It isn't on every bill and has no city-wide rate; servizio is separate if stated, tips are voluntary.

Can I sit on the bridges to eat?

No — eating or sitting on bridges, steps, canal edges and monuments is prohibited. Use park benches.

What if acqua alta is forecast?

Check Centro Maree/hi!tide for peak time and level on your route, wear waterproof shoes and follow ACTV notices.

Sights & trips

Does one ticket cover the Basilica, Campanile and Palace?

No. Basilica + Museo €20 (full €30), Campanile €15, MUVE St Mark's Square €35 (€30 ≥30 days ahead).

Can I climb San Giorgio Maggiore's bell tower?

Not now — it is temporarily closed with no reopening date (18 Sep 2026).

Do I need to visit Murano, Burano and Torcello?

No. Pick the island that interests you; more islands mean more crossings and less time on each.

Should I plan a day trip outside Venice?

With three days or fewer, prioritise the city and lagoon unless another destination is your main goal.

How do I know Murano glass is genuine?

Look for the Vetro Artistico® Murano mark on the item and verify its code at original.muranoglass.com.
